Blue orbs, almost resembling ice, twinkled briefly as the dim light from the moon shone down upon the forest. All that was visible beneath the underbrush was a gray smudge, for the silver stripes seemed to be merging together. The only sound out at this time of the night was the waterfall, which lay deep within the forest. Its soft sound was soothing from a far distance, but the closer you get, the more you realize the soft noise is more like a giant roar.
Soft pink pads glided along the ground's cracked surface. The turf suddenly changed as the area beneath the paws of this she-cat became snow. His whiskers flinched from the freezing snow, but he resisted turning back. He needed to get out of the camp, the cats screeching and kits bouncing around. It irritated him. Frozenpool quickly neared the large water formation, and he bolted through the thick trees and emerged into a clearing. A few fox-lengths away was the wondrous waterfall, followed by the strong current of the river.
He slowly padded up to the river bank, and gazed deep into it. What caught his eye, was not a fish, but the moon's reflection. It trembled constantly from the rush of the water. Tonight, there didn't seem to be any fish swimming around the surface of the water, so there was no luck hunting here. Instead of leaving and finding fresh-kill for the Clan, he settled down. Laying down on his belly, he tucked his paws neatly under his chest, watching the flow of the water. . .

A shiver. How cold was it anyways? Gentle ice capped fingertips brushed
her spine, making her back return to the cold spasms. The answer = freezing.
Her gray tinted vision was blocked by swaying trees, dancing to the rhythm
of the forest music. Of course, who could not resist the urge to twirl so gracefully when you could? Well well, could it be the one, the only Frozenpool?
I'm honored. No, she would not let him know that her numb paws
had carried her here accidentally, it was better to play it cool. Besides,
it was what she was best at. She decided she would stay and have a
little chat. What was there to do back at Camp anyways? Only a million things.
But they could wait. It was time for a little quality time with a rival. It was
better to get to know you enemy before you killed them. Also, though
she refused to admit this, the tom was quite handsome. Any she-cat
with the right mind could see that. But no, she was here for a talk, not
to interact with toms from other clans. Mythstar would murder her, not
that she was already not looking for the perfect time to already. So,
you gonna answer, or you chicken of a petite MoonlessClanner?
It was fun to try to provoke him; she bet he didn't get mocked at his Clan,
but what was a better way to build character and stamina? A series of
giggles, (or you could call them snorts) passed through the delicate entryway
of her mouth and she struggled to compose her face. So much for
being cool and collected. She hoped he didn't hear that, though
it was almost unnecessary to worry, for the words barely made a sound.
Better to be safe than sorry. A sigh. Well, how more boring could you get?
Maybe this wasn't as good as an idea as she thought. She toyed with
the idea to leave. No, she had put herself in this position and she would
bail later if the cat was as dull as he looked.
[[[>O: Sorry, it was terrible. I'll do better next time. Just getting in the mood.]]]

At first, Frozenpool thought that the words he was hearing was in the mixture of the falling water and rushing water. But when her tore his gaze away from the running stream, he saw the outline of a small cat. He inhaled deeply and recognized the scent as a MoonlessClan cat, but even more specificly, Obsidianspell. Do you think you can just venture onto our territory whenever you want? He hissed ferociously. The anger inside him grew from a spark to a flame. How could the other Clans take advantage of the kindess from PaleClan?
The other cats in my Clan might let you go, but I certainly won't! he arched his back as he spat out those arrogant words. He slowly prowled forward, the vicious winds stirring up. As he became within a few tail-lengths of Obsidianspell, he pounced at her faster than a rabbit sprinting away from a hungry cat. Frozenpool barreled the "petite" she-cat over and pinned her down. Now tell me the real reason why you're here. Did you seriously think that I would let you go so easily? You just prance onto our territory for a little chat, huh?

Now, now, little tom, don't fret. I come in peace. I
might want to talk, but please, get off me before I'm forced to get hostile
toward a fellow Deputy, all right? It was amazing at how she weaved
such assured authority and warning in her teasing little voice. A hint of danger
had also made a slight appearance, intertwining itself with the velvet
and honey thread of sentence that flowed swiftly from her delicate
mouth. A moonwashed glow outlined the obsidian physique as it leaked
through the cracks in the branches of the naked trees, making her luminescent
in the eerie nightly silence. Pale golden globes held nothing but trust,
a trust that he was going to let her go, so they might start a chat. Though
this Frozenpool seemed tense and uptight, it was nothing you couldn't
fix. Though doubt now seemed to color her feeling, overpowering it, she
fought back the deadly distrust. He was going to let her go, and if he
didn't, so what? It wasn't like she wasn't practiced in the art of being
a Warrior, and if he wanted a fight, boy, would he get the fight of his
his short life. But who wanted to quarrel when you could avoid the ridiculous
notion all at once? The tom didn't seem to be a mighty killer anyways,
and it wasn't like the DimClan leader was going to pick a maniac to take
over the Clan after she died. No sane cat would ever think of doing that.
Impatience. How long could this cat take to supply a descent answer?
Hm. That might be a good trivia question. The quiet was driving her mad,
forcing her from her sanity. Wait, could you even go insane from waiting
too long? It was possible, apparently, for she was sure she was going
to do so now. But only time could tell.

His muscles relaxed after the soft words came from the MoonlessClan deputy. Although, his eyes were still flaming with fury. He slowly stepped off of the female, eying her carefully in the process. The moon was at a slight crescent tonight, and gray fog resembling a phantom drifted across the starless sky. The lighting became even dimmer, so all he could make out was the faint outline of the she-cat and her glowing orbs. So. . . what did you come here for? he meowed, not sure if she could hear his softspoken voice over the disturbing roar of the waterfall. His heart was thudding, his whiskers twitching, claws sheathing and unsheathing. He was tense and ready for a fight if she needed one. Another thought finally arrived in his mind. Why didn't I come to this conclusion before?
Our Clan has been noticing an absence of prey all around our territory. This may be the first time we've spotted you here, but it all leads down to you. he paused, trying to sort out what he was going to say next. MoonlessClan has been stealing prey from PaleClan! It's true! Why else would you be here? his soft-spoken meow rose to a screeching hiss. Angler flared up inside him, rising up his stomach and through his throat, and he could feel it tightening.

The weight of his unyielding paws had been shifted, then returned to the
soft worn dirt beneath the pair. His most recent statement had appalled
her to the core of her being, but her face remained behind the mask of icy
calm. Please. Don't be ridiculous, I was taking a break from
the hell at camp, and I didn't realize where I was going. Why would
MoonlessClan steal from them anyways? They didn't need to, and
if they were allowed to hunt on their territory, they would refuse. The
Clan didn't need DimClan charity. Golden tinted globes rolled to add to
the effect that she didn't care what he said. And I suspect
that you were doing the same thing as I, although you didn't stumble
upon another Clans territory. Am I not right? A smirk. Cats tended
to loathe the idea that she was so young and a bit of a know it all. Yes,
it was easy to read felines, and she was rather good. Why not use your
gift? If you didn't, it was a waste of talent, a waste of space. Cats needed
to learn to not care what others thought of them, only what you thought
of yourself. It was an important lesson, and she had learned it the hard way.

The dark shaded tom kept his gaze locked upon the cat, who seemed so calm and not frightened . . . not frightened at all. That is going to be a problem for Frozenpool in the future. What if he didn't intimidate cats during a battle? What good would that do for him? His mind slipped for a moment, thinking about what a horrid battle it would be for him, then got back on track. Actually, yes. . . Life at the camp is boring. Nothing goes on there. He gave her a confused look, raising one side of his eyebrow, but he kept his piercing yellow-green orbs furious and cold. How would she know that? But as he was thinking about his thoughts, he realized it was an obvious explanation. Besides hunting, just getting out of the stuffed up place was the next most common decision a cat makes. Plus, a rat could tell that he wasn't up for hunting that night.
But, what do you mean "you didn't realize where you were going"? he meowed, a sneer forming upon his round face. What an absurd answer, who was to believe that? Maybe a kit.

Another eye roll. She was pleased to find out that he didn't seem to notice
this action. Look, lets explain my personality here. My head
is always up in the clouds, except in battle and when I'm chatting. Also,
I had a lot on my mind. He was begging to annoy her, this Frozenpool.
How paranoid could one cat be? The bleak crescent was the Queen of
the chalky midnight sky, holding it's on against the army of stars around
it. Life was easy to look at in such an uncomplicated way, and the tom
tom seemed to be out to make it harder every minute.

Frozenpool thought he saw her roll her eyes (which were gorgeous, he had do admit) but he decided to think otherwise. That would make the heat inbetween them worse. A small chuckle arised up his throat from her describing her personality basically as her head filled with rocks. That was not a compliment. He grunted rather loudly showing that he was bored, and if she had a point get on with it. So why are you currently here? Once you realized you were on PaleClan territory you could have scurried away like the coward that you are. He was ready to turn tail and head back to camp, but he couldn't leave this mouse-brain alone in his territory. His heart was still thudding, but not because he was ready for a fight. His heart felt lighter than usual, but how could he be happy?

Was he trying to provoke her? If he was, it wasn't working. Coward?
Well then, I can see how we are going to get along in the future. As for
me being scared, are you just trying to make an excuse that you want me
here? Because, in my opinion, it's rather obvious. Of course Obsidianspell
knew this wasn't true. It was just another sassy comment rolling of her
spiked tongue. She couldn't seem to keep those to herself. She decided
that they were too fun not to say, to resist.
The trees were still dancing to their recital, unseeing eyes not on them
anymore, ears turned back to the rhythm of the soundless music. Wind
intertwined itself within the branches, like invisible vines. Don't they look
like they're dancing? She indicated with her head to the blanket
of trees around them, hoping to distract him from their hostile conversation.
She found it easy to talk to this unfriendly stranger. Odd, I know, but
it was if a part of her knew him. Impossible. She had only heard
this cats name in Gatherings, and that was it. So, Old Bubba,
how are you today? What a weird question to ask an enemy. Ah
well. There was nothing anybody could do about it.

Psh. he was disgusted by what she had said, Why would I want to talk to you? You're a bouse-brained coward that thinks she can trample all over other Clan's territory! he hissed, but eyes not showing the emotion his heart was feeling.
But after he heard the next thing his say, it made his heart start pounding against his chest yet again, and what was making him feel this way? Could it be her brilliant golden eyes. . . His icey-blue orbs sparkled for a brief moment. Old Bubba, he thought in the back of his mind, Never heard that one before. His small pink mouth stretched out into a wide grin, and he looked up at the trees, swirling and twirling around eachother in the sky. Dancing, what a unique way to put it. He could tell from the start, this cat was very different from the others. She had a wide stretched area of thinking, putting the most random things and finding a similarity between them. The wind is dancing with the trees? he asked, wondering if that was what she meant, or if the trees were dancling solo to their own melody, with the moon watching them from above. Not many of their ancestors were out tonight. Where could they have gone? Usually they were all out, gathered in clumps forming odd shapes. That's what these nocturnal cats did during the night, see if they could determine what each clump of stars' shape was forming . . . instead of clouds.

No, they're dancing with natures' music, obviously. The wind
is intertwining itself with them, their partners in crime. She threw
a quick glance at him, wanting to know how he was reacting to all this. Her
thoughts were jumbled of course, but he didn't have to know that.

The ravishing tom caught her gaze glide over to him, and he quickly turned his head the other way. This was only a natural reaction, but why so? Why couldn't he just let her catch him looking at her? Maybe it was only the way in which he was doing so, with the pleasant and soft glare in his melted pools of blue for eyes. The crescent moon reflected gently in his black pupils, rubbing off the effect that he was tender and young, his eyes being large and all. As the fluent words slid through his ears, her voice rang in his heart repeatedly. How creative... he thought, staring up at the bear trees, only a dark figure outlining the dark blue sky. They were swaying with the wind, but any cat could realize that. It takes a superior, clever cat to notice that "the trees are dancing with the melody of nature, wind intertwining itself into the branches." Sounds like it came deep within her soul, and as far as he knew, he liked loved her soul. But that doesn't necessarily mean I love her, does it? He turned back to her, trying to hid his emotions behind the scenes of his oceanic orbs, but he wasn't sure if it was working. He couldn't hide his burning passion for her on the inside of him. They had just met, what was he thinking? It was just a simple young-feline crush, is all. He wasn't in love with her. Uh . . . he was speechless, and the only word he could come up with was, Wow.
He tried to begin to explain more, but it came out only as jumbled words. He paused, giggled, and cleared up his meaning. That's very original, ingenious. That's really nifty that you came up with that metaphor on your own. he shot her a delicate look and a gentle smile, but then once again turned away from her to face the quick-running stream.
